How to Prepare for Event Video and Photo Coverage

A POTENZA MASTERCLASS CASE STUDY

As a leading corporate videographer and photographer operating in London and Berkshire, I had the privilege of covering the recent Potenza Masterclass event for Cynosure EMEA. Held on 17 May 2024 at the Cynosure EMEA Experience Centre in Chiswick, London, this event brought together 50 esteemed aesthetic doctors and clinic owners from across Europe. Here’s a detailed breakdown of this project and some essential tips on how to prepare for your event’s video and photo shoot.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Event Highlights

The Potenza Masterclass, presented by the renowned Dr. Miralles from Majorca, was an engaging day of learning and networking. My task was to provide comprehensive video and photo coverage, including:

  • Highlights Video: A dynamic summary of the day in both landscape and vertical formats for optimal social media engagement.
  • Masterclass Recording: A detailed multicam edit of the masterclass, incorporating slides, to be published as a webinar on the Cynosure website.
  • Photography: Capturing masterclass sessions, networking moments, live demo sessions, and headshots.
  • Interviews: Filming 10 interviews with attendees, formatted for various social media platforms.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Equipment Used

For this project, I utilised a range of high-quality equipment to ensure top-notch results:

Filming and Photography Techniques
  • Masterclass Filming: Using two camera angles (wide and close-up) allowed for an engaging multicam edit, enhancing the educational content with a professional touch.
  • Photography: With about 300 photos taken, 100 edited images were delivered to capture the essence of the day, providing attendees and Cynosure with memorable visuals.
  • Interviews: Filmed with the Canon EOS C70 and a Canon RF 50mm f1.8 lens for a sharp, professional look, and lit with an Aputure 60d light kit, ensuring crisp, high-quality footage.
  • Live Demo Sessions: Two Canon EOS C70 cameras were strategically placed to follow Dr. Miralles’ demonstrations closely.
Editing And Delivery

RESULTS AND CLIENT FEEDBACK

The final deliverables included 25 videos and 100 photos, meticulously edited and optimised for various platforms. The content was well-received, driving thousands of impressions and significant engagement on Cynosure’s social media channels.

PREPARING FOR YOUR EVENT VIDEO AND PHOTO SHOOT

Here are some key tips to ensure your event coverage is successful:

  • Define Your Deliverables: Clearly outline what content you need (e.g., highlight videos, interviews, photography).
  • Choose the Right Equipment: Ensure you have the necessary cameras, lenses, lighting, and audio equipment. Always bring backups.
  • Plan Your Shots: Map out your angles and key moments to capture. Multicam setups can add depth to your footage.
  • Optimise for Platforms: Deliver content in various formats to suit different social media channels.
  • Edit Professionally: Use industry-standard software for editing to maintain high quality.
  • Efficient Delivery: Share content through accessible platforms like Vimeo and Google Drive.
